Creative Writing workshop tomorrow!

For those who haven’t yet heard, there is no writers’ circle meeting next week. Instead we’re having a special trip to Manchester City Art Gallery tomorrow afternoon.

I will facilitate a session of creative writing exercises, responding to different artworks around the gallery. We’ll be doing a few different things and moving around, and hopefully try something new!

We’ll meet in the café at 12:45. Go in by the main entrance off Mosley Street, and head all the way to the right into the larger café area (not the smaller part by the gift shop). Please be prompt, because we’ll head up into the galleries at 1pm and if you’re late you might miss us!

  1. I was just wondering, after reading a competition’s guidelines, whether anyone can tell me if they ‘keep’ pieces they think they might enter into competitions rather than post them. I hadn’t realised that the guidelines for competitions could be so strict about blogs (not that I have one) and writing forums. Any tips/advice about this?

    • I think if something is good enough to enter into a competition, don’t post it any where. Especially if publication is part of the deal. Unless the rules say okay. I’ve come up against this brick wall. It’s a shame. But you can post it if the blog/webside is password protected so the contents are not ion the public domain. Only you and family/friends see the writing.
